Who We Are — Cyprus Dragon Boat Federation

The Cyprus Dragon Boat Federation (CYDBF) is the official governing body for the sport of dragon boat racing in Cyprus.

The CYDBF is a National Sport Federation recognized by KOA (Cyprus Sport Organization), a member of the Cyprus Olympic Committee and a full member of both the European Dragonboat Federation (EDBF) and the International Dragonboat Federation (IDBF).

 

We develop, organize and promote dragon boat activities, training, competitions and community events across the island. The federation supports both competitive paddlers and recreational participants, welcoming people of all ages and fitness levels to experience the sport’s unique blend of teamwork, endurance and camaraderie. Clubs are active in Limassol, Paphos and Larnaca, with trainings taking place both on the sea and in the reservoirs of Germasogeia and Mavrokolympos.

Dragon boat racing is a dynamic water sport with deep cultural roots and a growing global community. In Cyprus, the federation works with local clubs and international partners to grow the sport, organise national and international regattas, and represent Cyprus in global dragon boat events. The CyDBF organizes the annual Cyprus Dragon Boat Championship featuring both Marathon and Sprint Races, the Cyprus International Regatta which brings teams from across the world to Cyprus, as well as the Cyprus Corporate Challenge which gives the opportunity to local companies to experience the sport. In addition, the CyDBF organizes regular internationally recognized Coaching courses (Cyprus Coaching Scheme) and Race Officials' courses at National and International level with Recognized Instructors from the IDBF.

 

We aim to:

• Promote and support dragon boat racing in Cyprus at all levels — from grassroots to elite competition.

• Encourage participation from clubs, communities, companies and individuals — training sessions and events are open to everyone.

• Foster team spirit, fitness and healthy competition on the water.

• Coordinate with international dragon boat bodies.

• Provide education and training opportunities for coaches and race officials.
